【선곡 취지】 디스코 음악과 풍속에 대한 평론이나 해설은 보다 전문적인 평론가에게 맡기고 여기서는 평론이나 해설 없이 그 시대를 추억하고 시대의 산물을 잊지 않고자 익히 들었던 디스코 음악의 목록을 만들고 유튜브의 영상들을 링크하여 선곡하였다.
디스코 이전의 보편적인 음악을 듣던 사람들은 디스코가 경박하고 관능적이며 퇴폐적이라 혹평을 하며 애써 귀를 막고 외면하는 가운데 어떤 가수는 디스코 최전선에서 투사 처럼 불러댄 가수도 있었고, 적절히 타협하면서 전통과 시대를 모두 취한 가수도 있었으며, 독야청청 절개와 지조로 클래식한 팝음악을 굳게 지켰냈던 가수도 있었으니 이 시대야 말로 당시 뮤지션에겐 변화와 시련, 환희와 좌절이 공존하면서 현실에 대해 깊이 고민하고 통찰해야 했던 시기가 아니었겠는가?
디스코는 기존의 듣는 음악을 보여주는 음악으로 변화 시키며 오감을 자극하기에 충분했다. 하여 아무리 경박하다 부정해도 그 자극은 듣는 이의 심장을 고동치게 했으니 디스코를 빼고는 그 시대를 말 할 수 없게 만들었다.
이러한 디스코에는 그 때 그 거리, 그 사람들, 그 사연이 있어 흥겨운 리듬임에도 이내 가슴 시려지게 하곤 한다.

여기 선곡은 당연 나의 주관인데 그 중엔 디스코로 분류했다고 발끈할 곡도 있겠으나 이는 디스코 시대를 그대로 관통하면서 디스코 독주를 견제하며, 디스코를 배경 삼아 한 시대를 풍미했던 곡이라 함께 수록했으며, 목록 뒤의 년도는 앨범 발매년도이나 정확하지 않은 것도 있는데 그 오차는 1년 정도 이다. 링크한 동영상은 화질, 음질 등을 조금 양보하고 최대한 앨범 발매년도에 가장 가까운 것을 선택 했으니 영상을 통해 그 시대와 자신을 조금이나마 읽어낼 수 있겠다.

 

이제와서 고백하건데 당시 나의 한 쪽 귀는 이 음악을 간절히 원하며 탐닉하고 있었다.
